The "Farvater-KV1" keyboard can be used as part of secure computing equipment used to process information of any secrecy level in conditions where: - "passive" protection measures are too expensive and (or) do not allow obtaining the required dimensions of the possible reconnaissance zone; - "active" methods of information protection (noise generators) are not applicable.
The FSTEC of Russia certificate certifies that the "Farvater-KV1" keyboard (UDIN.403310.001) is a secure information processing technical means. The keyboard meets the requirements of the "Collection of Standards for Information Protection from Leakage Due to PEMIN", as well as the "Collection of Methodological Documents on Monitoring the Security of Information Processed by Computer Equipment from Leakage Due to PEMIN". The keyboard does not create additional channels for leakage of speech information and can be used in designated rooms of categories 1, 2 and 3.
The keyboard is a functional analogue of a standard keyboard connected to the PS/2 interface, providing guaranteed security of the processed information in the mode of its input by the operator, regardless of the size of the controlled area of the computer facility, its category and the possible type of reconnaissance means for side electromagnetic radiation and interference (SEMI). The appearance of the Farvater-KV1 keyboard is shown in Figure 1.
A system feature of the Farvater-KV1 keyboard is that it uses its own original sixteen-bit interface to transmit key scan codes. The design of the keyboard is based on a patented protection method and technical solutions (priority from 21.03.2008). The main positive consequence of such a design is that the information entered from the keyboard cannot be restored from possibly intercepted PEMIN. In accordance with the provisions of the main guidelines on information security, the Farvater-KV1 keyboard does not require special studies or special object studies. In addition, such additional information security measures as establishing a controlled zone or using active spatial or linear noise suppression tools are not required.
