ST 168 Cellular and Wireless Data Blocker Tester

The ST 168 tester is designed to monitor the radiation level of CDMA 450, GSM, 3G, DECT, WLAN, Bluetooth jammers and allows you to determine the actual suppression zone and compliance with the frequency ranges of the monitored standards. The device is easy to use and guarantees prompt results.

ST168 operating algorithm:
- Measurement, processing and display of the radiation level of base stations and jammers of the selected standard in numerical and graphical form;
- Display of the test result as an information line.

Product capabilities:
- Selective reception of radio signals in the frequency ranges of the selected standards.
- Comparison of base station signals and the jammer signal.
- Selection and installation of the suppression coefficient.

The use of the product is based on the following assumptions:

The GSM and 3G standards have frequency-separated receive and transmit paths. A cellular jammer creates interference in the frequency range of the receiving part of the mobile device (handset).
To reliably suppress cellular communication between the base station and the handset, the blocker (jammer) signal level must exceed the level of the base station signal received by the handset by a certain value. In the ST168 GSM-3G blocker tester, this value is called the "Suppression factor".

The actual GSM signal suppression zone, in addition to the level of emitted power, will depend on how far the blocker is from the base station. The closer, the stronger the signal from the base station and, accordingly, the smaller the suppression zone. This value is also directly affected by the building elements: metal structures, walls, etc.

Thus, to assess the efficiency of a GSM cellular blocker, it is necessary to measure the base station signal level in the controlled area and the GSM-3G suppressor signal level. In the ST168 tester, this is implemented both numerically and graphically. The graphical representation allows you to assess how accurately the blocker-suppressor frequency range corresponds to the range of the suppressed cellular communication standard. By comparing the obtained values with the existing value of the suppression coefficient, the ST168 tester issues a decision on the quality of GSM signal suppression by the blocker in this place in the form of an information line like: "Sufficient".
To assess the suppression zone, you need to move away from the blocking device in different directions until the inscription "Insufficient" appears.

The wireless communication standards DECT, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have the same frequency range and no separation of transmission and reception channels. Therefore, in this case, the overall signal level is measured.
