When an unauthorized attempt is made to activate a telephone in remote information access mode for the purpose of listening to the surrounding environment, the level of electromagnetic field intensity near the telephone increases slightly. This increase is recorded by the electromagnetic field detector, which is part of the "Shkatulka" device.
After recording the fact of an increase in the electromagnetic field level, the acoustic noise generator is automatically turned on, the emitter of which is located in close proximity to the microphone of the cell phone.
