The search indicators-alarms ISP-PM1710A (gamma) and ISP-PM1710GNA (gamma-neutron) are specialized highly sensitive devices designed to search for and localize radioactive and nuclear materials by their gamma and neutron radiation.
Main characteristics:
Scintillation detector based on a large-volume CsI(Tl) crystal and a photodiode for detecting gamma radiation (models PM1710A, PM1710GNA);
Neutron radiation detector based on a proportional He-3 gas detector in the moderator (model PM1710GNA);
Built-in sound and light alarm;
External vibration alarm for work in places with increased noise levels, as well as for covert detection;
Non-volatile memory;
Communication with a personal computer via an infrared channel;
Metal case;
Ease of use.
When switched on or at the user's command, the device automatically measures and stores the radiation background in the control zone. Subsequently, it immediately responds to the background being exceeded, notifying about it with a sound and/or vibration signal.
The device provides adequate automatic adaptation to the background level change and simplifies the localization of the radioactive source in new conditions: for example, when the background decreases due to radiation shielding or in conditions of increased radiation intensity (localization of a point source against the background of a distributed radioactive source).
The algorithm used in the indicator-alarms allows the user to change the value of the preset threshold depending on the requirements for the frequency of false alarms and the probability of detecting the radiation source.
The non-volatile memory of the device stores its operation history, including the fact and time of operation, the level of excess in relation to the set threshold, as well as information on the status of the indicator-alarm parameters. This information can be transmitted to a personal computer via an infrared communication channel for further processing, analysis and control.
The device is designed for use in harsh and adverse operating conditions, has a fluorescent LCD backlight. The indicator-signaler is easy to maintain, no special qualifications or user training are required to operate the device.
