X-RAY FLUORESCENCE ANALYZER "PRISMA"

The X-ray fluorescence analyzer (XFA) "PRIZMA" is designed to determine the elemental composition and content (concentration) of chemical elements in oils, lubricants and working fluids, in drinking, natural and waste water, in soil extracts and gaseous media after appropriate sample preparation (settling on filters).

Application areas:
ecology, environmental monitoring;
diagnostics and monitoring of the technical condition of aircraft engines, diesel locomotive engines, etc.;
chemical production;
metallurgy;
pharmacology;
quality control of petroleum products;
quality control of food products, etc.
The technical characteristics of the analyzer allow adapting and certifying the XFA "PRIZMA" not only for the above, but also for other areas of activity.

Composition of the X-ray fluorescence analyzer "PRISMA"
The X-ray fluorescence analyzer "PRISMA" consists of a sensor containing a characteristic radiation excitation unit based on an X-ray emitter, a measuring chamber, a spectrometer with a semiconductor (nitrogen-free) Si-pin detector and a control panel, a personal IBM-compatible computer and a set of application software.

Determination of the content of chemical elements in samples is carried out by the X-ray fluorescence method, which is based on the dependence of the flux density of the characteristic radiation of elements on their concentration. The characteristic radiation of the analyzed elements is excited by the bremsstrahlung of the X-ray tube, which is part of the X-ray emitter, and is recorded by a semiconductor silicon pin detector. Quanta of characteristic radiation of various elements cause current pulses in the detector with an amplitude proportional to their energy. Amplified by the preamplifier of the detection unit, the current pulses enter the processing and accumulation unit of spectrometric information, where they are processed, converted into digital form and then sent to a personal computer, accumulated and processed according to specified programs. Thus, the registration of characteristic radiation allows for analysis both qualitatively (recognition of elements by the energy of the spectra of characteristic radiation) and quantitatively (the content of elements in the sample).
