"PERSEUS-300" Communication restriction system in places of detention

The Perseus-300 system for restricting the use of mobile communication devices in places of detention is a distributed intelligent reactive system for setting up targeted jamming.
The system has a modular structure. Each module is a lettered setter of targeted jamming and solves the problem of blocking in a sector assigned to it.

The blocking signal is formed based on the results of measuring the levels of useful signals in the protected area.

The power of the blocking signal is set for each active channel depending on the measured level. The internal structure of the blocking signal is similar to the structure of the useful signal (modulation type, information bit stream, etc.). The blocking signal is formed for each standard separately.

The levels of active base stations are measured and, accordingly, the blocking signal is updated at least 1000 times per second.

Sleep mode:
When a subscriber terminal is detected going on the air in the protected area, blocking is automatically turned on for a certain period of time. After this interval, the device checks whether the handset is still on the air, and if it is, it turns on blocking again for a certain time. And so on, until the handset stops trying to establish a connection.

With this design of the system, the density of the electromagnetic energy flow from the antennas must meet sanitary and hygienic standards in the area where people are located.

All modules of the system are connected to a local network via a radio channel with an RS-485 interface (EIA/TIA-485). Protection against mismatch (SWR) is provided. In case of mismatch, the power is automatically turned off.

Each time the complex is turned on (power is supplied), a complete self-diagnosis of the complex's operability is performed independently for each channel.

If it becomes necessary to block new standards or frequency ranges, the complex can be supplemented with new modules.

To control the system, an automated workstation (AWS) is created for each facility (prison), consisting of a personal computer, special software (SWR) and the necessary set of interfaces and converters. The facility is controlled via a local radio network via the RS-485 (EIA/TIA-485) interface.

The SPO allows access to each channel of any of the complexes and performs the following actions:

enable/disable blocking
reconfigure blocking parameters in case of significant changes in the radio environment (significant change in the power of base stations, appearance of new active channels, etc.)
receive information about the current channel state:
— blocking is on or off;
— power level of the blocking signal, temperature;
— status according to the SWR;
— if the intelligent mode is implemented, then receive information about attempts to establish communication in the protected area;
receive information about the results of self-diagnostics and perform full diagnostics during operation
Each module of the complex is visually displayed on the plan of the facility at the place of its installation and its current state is highlighted in a certain color. When adding new modules to the complexes, the corresponding changes are made to the SPO without changing the general structure of the system. The design of the high-frequency modules, their external elements and connections meets the requirements of IP 66. The design of the connections, wires and cables must be protected from the effects of insects, fungi and mold.
