Exceptionally high spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) Received RF interference is often low-level because it occurs inside buildings and is emitted at low transmit power. At the same time, the RF spectrum contains many other signals that are usually stronger than the signal of interest. Under these conditions, a high SFDR is required to reliably detect such signals. The R&S®MNT100 offers a higher SFDR than other solutions in its class. In practice, the signal is received at a large distance from the source, which significantly speeds up the search. Extended preselection for suppression of strong broadcast signals and signals outside the measurement window The RF spectrum contains many broadcast signals (FM, DVB-T, DAB, TV, etc.), which are usually much stronger than the signal of interest. The sum of all signals at the antenna input limits the ability to detect weak signals. The higher the sum level, the higher the noise level. Signals outside the measurement window must be filtered to prevent weak signals from being masked by noise (see figure). Equipped with a tracking filter and several bandpass filters, the R&S®MNT100 interference source detector suppresses strong out-of-band signals much more effectively than solutions without preselection support.

Fast signal processing in real time Thanks to the fast, gap-free real-time Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) function, the R&S®MNT100 interference source detector never misses a single transient. Even signals transmitted for only 20 ns are detected with 100% probability of intercept (depending on the signal level). Polychrome display for detecting superimposed pulsed signals The polychrome display allows superimposed pulsed signals that are not visible on conventional swept analyzers to be detected and differentiated.

Key use cases Triangulating interference sources with a directional antenna The R&S®HE400LP log-periodic antenna module has a constant gain and a selective forward-facing radiation pattern over the entire frequency range of the R&S®MNT100 interference detector. Bearings are found manually by pointing the antenna in the direction of the strongest signal. The R&S®HE400LP module is included in the standard package of the R&S®MNT100LOC1 interference detector. Innovative handheld dual-mode antenna The optional R&S®HE400CEL cellular antenna module enables even more accurate manual direction finding. It contains two antenna elements that can be combined in normal/delta mode. In normal mode, the R&S®HE400CEL module provides high directivity over the entire frequency range from 700 MHz to 2.5 GHz. More accurate than any waveguide antenna In delta mode, the R&S®HE400CEL module provides a narrow rejection band along the antenna axis for high-precision manual direction finding, much more accurate than with any waveguide antenna.

Fast, automatic detection of interference sources from a moving vehicle With the upgraded version of the R&S®MNT100LOC2 automatic interference detection kit, the R&S®MNT100 turns an ordinary vehicle into a high-precision mobile direction finder in minutes. Automatic radar PC software To combat misleading reflection information in urban environments, up to 600 direction finding results per minute are fed from the R&S®MNT100 to the R&S®MobileLocator automatic radar PC software, which uses sophisticated statistical analysis to discard irrelevant readings. While others search, we find Equipped with the R&S®MNT100LOC2 automatic interference detection kit, the R&S®MNT100 automatically detects interference sources much faster than other solutions on the market. User-friendly software optimized for single-user operation The R&S®MobileLocator software enables a single operator to automatically detect interference sources. Generate a report with a click of the mouse The R&S®MobileLocator software generates a report on the detection of an interference source with a single click. Accounting for multipath In urban environments, where many reflected signals are received, solutions for finding interference sources that rely solely on signal strength measurements, or more precisely the power of the incoming signal (POA), can be misleading and time-consuming. This problem can be solved with fast automatic direction finders that measure the direction of the interference source up to 600 times per minute. The first automatic portable direction finding system with 1° RMS accuracy on the market The R&S®MNT100LOC2 automatic interference detection kit upgrade turns the R&S®MNT100 into a 1° RMS direction finding system based on the correlation interferometric method. Using a magnetic mount, it only takes a few minutes to install the compact R&S®ADD207 UHF/microwave direction finding antenna with an integrated GPS receiver on the roof of a vehicle. Handling pulsed, narrowband and broadband signals Thanks to the correlation interferometric direction finding method, the R&S®MNT100-based direction finding system handles virtually all types of interference sources, independent of the frequency band and modulation type.
